- A finished, painted sculpt on detail meshes
- Make sure each object that needs fine detail has a detail mesh and is painted. Projected photo colour counts as paint.
- Select an object and choose Bake maps in its Detail section. Pick a map size: 2048 for props, 4096 for hero characters.
- Choose a folder. You get
name_low.objand.mtl, a normal map, a colour map and a displacement map. - Repeat for each object you want as a separate mesh in the engine (the body, armour, a weapon).
- For hair, export hair cards: two-sided strips with a strand texture with transparency.
- In Blender, Unity, Unreal or Godot: import the OBJ, then plug the colour map into base colour and the normal map into normal. Use displacement only where the engine supports it.
