The interface

Shapeaway is a quiet frame around a full-window view of the clay. Press H to hide everything but the clay.

The File menu (new, open, open recent with the samples, import, save, export, settings, shortcuts, help, quit), the sculpt’s name with an Unsaved marker, undo, redo and the history list, a button to hide the panels, help, settings and the teal Export menu.

A floating column of brush icons: the basic brushes, more brushes, Shape, Paint (with its colour) and Mask. Below it, the Make group: transform a part, move an object, wire cut and the pottery wheel. Hover any icon for its name and shortcut.

A floating panel with five tabs. Click the open tab to fold the inspector to a strip.

At the bottom centre: the current mode’s quick controls. Size and strength scrubbers, mirror, radial and pressure when sculpting; colours, fill and clear when painting; mask actions when masking; Apply, Reset and Cancel while transforming.

While a transform or wire cut holds the brushes, an amber mode pill and a ring round the view show it, each with a Cancel.

The gear button: UI scale (90 to 150%), shortcuts, limits for new sculpts, reset all settings, show the welcome card again, open the autosave or log folders, and Save a report….
