Symmetry

Press X to step through the mirror axes (X, Y, Z and off), or use the mirror button in the context bar. With a mirror on, every stroke also happens on the other side.

  • Mirroring is about the sculpt’s centre, so model with the object centred, or move it there with the transform tool.
  • Strokes that cross the middle are handled once, not twice, so a stroke down the centre line doesn’t double up.

Radial (Make section, or the context bar) repeats every stroke 2 to 16 times around the vertical axis. Use it for flowers, wheels, crowns and turned pots. It combines with mirror symmetry.

The pottery wheel (W) spins the clay, so a brush held still shapes it all the way round. See Make tools.
