Rendering stills and turntables

Shapeaway exports pictures of your sculpt from Export:

Export	What you get
PNG image	A still of the current view, at a size you choose, optionally with a transparent background
Turntable GIF	The sculpt turning once round, frame by frame

Both show whichever view is on: clay look, matcap, or the realistic view with its lighting preset, backdrop and ground shadow.

Good renders

1. Turn on the realistic view (R) and pick a lighting preset. Three-point relights each turntable frame for its angle.
2. Give objects finishes.
3. Turn on the backdrop and ground shadow.
4. Add depth of field for close-ups (not with a transparent background).
5. Frame the view, then export.

Tip

For a portfolio sheet, render the same view in the clay look and the realistic view: it shows the sculpting and the finish.
