Painting colour
Press 9 for the Paint brush and stroke over the clay. Pick the colour in the Tool tab or the context bar, and keep favourites as swatches.
Paint and clay colour
Section titled “Paint and clay colour”Unpainted clay shows the clay colour (Looks tab). Changing the clay colour still works after painting, so paint only what differs from the base: a base green for a creature, then darker hollows and lighter ridges.
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Fill all | Paints the whole object |
| Clear paint | Removes all paint from the object |
Painting with masks
Section titled “Painting with masks”The mask protects areas from paint too. For grime in wrinkles: Mask cavities, Invert, then paint, so only the hollows take colour. See Masking.
Paint from photos
Section titled “Paint from photos”Paint from photo (Tool tab) brushes colour from a matched photograph instead of the plain colour. See Projecting photo colour.
Where paint goes
Section titled “Where paint goes”- Painting works on clay and detail meshes; going back to clay keeps the paint.
- GLB and PLY exports keep colour; 3MF turns it into filament colours.
- Paint is stored only where it’s used, so unpainted clay costs no extra memory.
